7 R&B, Pop, Soul and Indie Artists to Watch in 2022!
Welcome to The About To Blow Artists feature for 2022. About To Blow Artists is all about up and coming new artists for 2022 in R&B, Pop, Soul, and Indie music. Since 2022 has just began so far, we have seen some good music so far from the likes of new artists such Amber Mark, Jaz Karis, Yebba, & Sfven making their debut on the music scene.
Yebba
Yebba is an American Singer & Songwriter from West Memphis, Arkansas. She first rosed to fame for her backing vocal performance on Chance the Rapper’s SNL performance of the song “Same Drugs” in 2016 and releasing her debut single “Evergreen” in 2017.
She has collaborated with numerous of artists, including PJ Morton, Sam Smith, Mark Ronson, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, and Drake.
The up and coming blue eyed soul Rnb artist is tipped as the new face of Rnb Soul music generation. Yebba’s music soul sound is described as mid 1960s with a Smokey soul feeling to it fused together with Rnb and neo jazz elements.
Amber Mark
Amber Mark is an American Singer and Songwriter from Tennessee, U.S. She released her first mini album titled ‘’3:33am’’, In May 2017. In 2021 Mark released five singles in 2021, from her full-length debut, Three Dimensions Deep, the album itself was released on January 28, 2022. Her previous hits includes; ‘’ Lose My Cool’,’ & ‘’ Can You Hear Me’.’
Her newest hits update to date includes; “Worth It”, & ‘’What It Is’’.
Her multifaceted style implements sounds from hip hop, R&B, soul, and bossa nova.
Dijon
Dijon is an alternative/R&B American musician and producer from Baltimore, Maryland. He first began producing and experimenting with collages of R&B, Folk, and Dance music as the musical duo, Abi//Dijon. Duenas released his first EP in 2019 titled Sci Fi 1. Duenas’s debut album, Absolutely, was released on November 5, 2021.
The rising newcomer dijon is set to break your heart (and warm your soul) with vocals that’ll hit you where it hurts. Dijon performs r&b, folk music. You may wanna check his song ‘’The Dress,’’ is which is a really good song that I discovered on YouTube in 2022. Hopefully we’’ll be seeing more of Dijon in 2022 see what else he has in store with his next follow up singles to come.
Sfven
Sfven aka Jamie Clarke, is an alt indie-pop artist from Derby who combines intimate and candid storytelling with glistening production to write unshakeably compelling and multi-layered alt-pop. His biggest musical influences are; Chance the Rapper’s Andy Shauf, Clairo and girl in red 🙂
a unique electro-pop sound, he is able to create his alternative-electro tracks, combined with sweet, heartfelt lyrics. There’s a youthful charm to Sfven’s music and lyrics that only add to his endearment. If you’re a fan of indie or pop music you may wanna check his song ‘’Real People’’, which I think is a pretty decent song seeing as I am a big fan of indie music and occasionally listen to indie music sometimes.
Niki
Nicole Zefanya, known professionally as NIKI, is an Indonesian singer, songwriter from Jakarta, Indonesia. She is currently based in the United States and signed with the record label 88rising.
In August 2021, NIKI dropped her viral feel-good summer single “Every Summertime.” Which was featured for the soundtrack of the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. She also co-wrote and co-produced ‘’Every Summer’’, with her boyfriend Jacob Ray.
Although her music is partially influenced by her mother, who exposed Zefanya to soul, gospel, and 1990s’ R&B like Destiny’s Child and Aaliyah when she was young, Zefanya’s earliest original music skewed towards the folk and indie genres.
Liza yohannes
Liza yohannes is a Ethiopian-Canadian R&B/Soul, singer/songwriter Born and raised in Toronto. To becomes evident that these influences spill over into her music. Liza is inspired by the likes of brandy, sade, and aster aweke, her music specifically draws influence from traditional ethiopian sounds, r&b and neo-soul. With an undeniable presence and beauty that you clearly won’t forget she makes rnb and neo soul music sound so angelic. She’s creating waves and oceans with her music.
In 2021 Liza premiered her single ‘’ DONE IS DONE’’, on Youtube.
Jaz Karis
Jaz karis is an R&B/Soul singer from South London known as a versatile musician. She has already collaborated with famous artists like Sillkey, Blue Lab Beats, Mike Musiq, Tinyman, and Zulu.
Jaz music is a blend of her a luscious vocal that traveled between the soundscape of Soul, Jazz, and Hip Hop.
She has been active within the music scene for four years after starting her music journey through the BRIT School.
